Your creativity is your greatest superpower.
Think about it. You literally have the ability to come up with ideas that are entirely your own AND, not only can you come up with them, you can execute them. Like this website, for example. I’m sure there are many others out there that are similar in nature but none of them speak to my personal creativity. These are my thoughts, based solely on my own life experiences (hence the whole millenial thing). And, guess what? The creativity required for me to develop this idea into much more than a passing thought came when I least expected it and I had the guts to go for it – that’s how it goes.
Take a moment and let that sink in. Where does creativity REALLY find you? Probably when you’re “in your element”, right? My creative mindset sets in at three times (usually): 1. Before bed (when I’m listening to music); 2. On walks (when I’m listening to music); 3. When I’m listening to music. Catch my drift? There is almost always a common theme lingering when your most intriguing ideas show up – when you’re present and doing something you enjoy. Music is my motivator. It is my escape. It is my therapy. It has guided me to creativity in some form my whole life. What’s so exciting is that you have your own creative mindset too! You just need to acknowledge the presence of creativity. Let it show you your potential. Harness it and hold tight – it’s a wild ride if you let it guide you.
Now that I’ve got you thinking about creativity, I’m going to give you a few buzzworthy tips that might just help you harness that beautiful beast:
- When you feel inspired, make a note of where you are and what you’re doing.
- When an idea excites you, make a note of it (even if you have no plans to pursue it right then and there).
- When you have too many ideas and feel overwhelmed, make a note of them and look for common themes.
Have you had an awesome idea? When and where did it present itself? Share where you captured your creativity in the comments. This is the fun stuff!
